The seaside town of Mazagon is 20 km south of Huelva on the coast with large sandy beaches. Mostly Spanish tourists come here during the high season and during the winter months it is a very quiet and relaxing place to be.  There are a number of bars and restaurants in the town, together with banks and a small library. There are no large supermarkets but smaller grocery shops.  A large open air market with locals selling fresh produce and various crafts is held every Friday during the high season. 

Water sports enthusiasts will find a wide range of activities available at Mazagon’s leisure harbour.  There is a good selection of places to eat in the town with reasonably priced restaurants and the local speciality being seafood.   Palos de la Frontera is just 13km away and La Rábida monastery 12km making Mazagon a good base for visiting the various attractions on Christopher Columbus. It also offers easy access to the Parque Nacional Coto de Doñana with its breathtaking scenery and protected species of birds and wildlife.
